Awry (The Archers of Avalon #2) by Chelsea Fine

 Synopsis from Goodreads:

Sometimes love is meant to be. But sometimes...love is the death of you....

Seventeen-year-old Scarlet has just died. Only, dying isn't unusual for a girl under a centuries old curse that left her semi-immortal.

This time, though, she comes back to her current life instead of awaking in a new one, and she realizes the curse is changing. Together with the immortal Archer brothers, Scarlet must piece together her life and try to break the curse before her impending death comes again.

Beautiful men in the forest were always trouble.
Oh. Dear. God. Words aren't enough to describe how much I love this book. Awry is the shit! I devoured it! Savored every moment of it.

Before I've read this series I thought I knew the true meaning of the word "favorite", dude, let me tell you a secret; I was so darn wrong.
Dressed for the occasion, with all eyes on her, Scarlet walked to the end of the aisle and up two stairs to meet Gabriel. She was breathtaking.
And she would never be Tristan’s.
Tristan let his heart break down the middle and crumble into pieces in the pit of his soul.
Ahhh. After reading this book I felt like falling inlove all over again.. A beautifully-written novel that captivated my heart right from the start, add the effectiveness of these well-defined main characters such as the irresistible hot twins Tristan and Gabriel plus a bad-ass heroine Scarlet, oh and don't forget the supporting characters as well and mix it with humors and sprinkle it with a crafty plot, voila! Head over heels inlove with it. I am so so happy that this second installment of The Archers of Avalon series didnt disappoint me at all(obviously).  Unlike some of the sequels out there, this book lived up to my expectations, actually, this book is even more better than the first book. Ancient curse, mystery, witchcraft, archery, hilarious characters, hot immortal boys, intense romance, what else can I say? Chelsea totally nailed it.

"Messy love, though... that is something to revel in."

The chemistry between Tristan and Scar is just so enticing.  I loved his tough and broody character so much! He's so hot, it hurts! And Gabriel, a confident and sensible guy. *sighs* You cant go wrong with these twins. Ok so the story picked up right where Anew left off, Scarlet's journey will lead to unexpected consequences and danger. Awry is more intensified, added new twists, I've got most of my questions answered, and more importantly the story of their past lives,  their  tragic curse and ofcourse, the oh so sweet but heartbreaking romance of Tristan, Scarlet and Gabriel. You guys, if you havent read this book before, O-M-G, you've got to try this and let me know what you think. I cant wait for the third book, I need more of Tristan, he is my lifesource! Hah! <3

Loved these quotes:

"You cant make someone love you. You can try to fall in love with someone, but that's not how it works. Love just has to.. exist."
Gabriel looked out at the water for a moment. “Love is rare.” “Yes.” Scarlet looked at lake as well. “But always worth pursuing.”Gabriel nodded. “Always.” Minutes of silence passed as birds flew over the lake and trees swayed in the wind.
There is no victory without a battle.

Social Suicide (Deadly Cool #2) by Gemma Halliday

Twittercide [twit-er-sahyd]: the killing of one human being by another while the victim is in the act of tweeting.

Call me crazy, but I figured writing for the Herbert Hoover High Homepage would be a pretty sweet gig. Pad the resume for college applications, get a first look at the gossip column, spend some time ogling the paper’s brooding bad-boy editor, Chase Erikson. But on my first big story, things went... a little south. What should have been a normal interview with Sydney Sanders turned into me discovering the Homecoming Queen-hopeful dead in her pool. Electrocuted while Tweeting. Now, in addition to developing a reputation as HHH’s resident body finder, I’m stuck trying to prove that Sydney’s death wasn’t suicide.

I’m starting to long for the days when my biggest worry was whether the cafeteria was serving pizza sticks or Tuesday Tacos..

This series is one of my favorite contemporary stories I've read so far, and I am so glad that this second installment didnt disappoint me at all. I loved the first book and as always our heroine Hartley never fails to amuse me, whenever, wherever.  If you are looking for a fun, cute and quick read, this book is for you.

I enjoyed this a lot. A murder mystery with a slight romantic twist and a suspense in finding the culprit. Apparently Hart is yet caught in another dead-body scene, but this one is different mind you. Its called Twittercide. This young girl Sydney died while on Twitter, but the question is, did she kill herself or someone did it?

The best things I liked in this book is Hartley ofcourse, this young lady is so hilarious and curious. The rest of the characters are just great plus the new ones, especially Hart's bestfriend Sam. And Chase, he is hot and he intrigues me so much! He is like these boys I liked so much when I was younger, challenging and hard to get! gah! I dont understand what the heck was he waiting for? Obviously Chase and Hart are so good together. I think Chase needs something to wake him up a lil bit. Maybe a love triangle will do! *fist pumps* I just wish the next book we will be seeing alot of Chase and Hartley romance, should be more intense and deeper.

Definitely worth picking up if you are a fan of the first book. I had loads of fun. Looking forward for the third book.

Sixteen-year-old Tegan is just like every other girl living in 2027 - she's happiest when playing the guitar, she's falling in love for the first time, and she's joining her friends to protest the wrongs of the world: environmental collapse, social discrimination, and political injustice.

Never forget who you are.
I have to admit, though there are some plot holes in this novel, I really enjoyed this book in general. A different and unique twist in vampires stories we read over the years, the author somehow managed to keep me gripped into the story and very entertained with the narrator. OK so first thing that drew me in was the cover, first I did view this cover in a larger one and I was creeped out with those guys at the back. And well, the main guy in the cover looks hot so I read the synops and its post-apocalyptic novel, with a human-eating people so I thought well count me in, im reading this!

So it turned out that this human-eating people are vampires, atleast thats what Ive understood from reading this book. And the hepers- which I always read as herpes(dont know why) are humans. The world-building is quite marvelous. How did our world turned out to be so doomed like this? Not much of humans are left, and if you are a human you dont stand a chance to survive around these viscous monsters. Thats when the plot holes enters. You see, Gene have lived with the vampires pretending to be like them, complete with fake fangs and hair shaving all over, he somehow survived from getting busted. I find it very hard not to sweat. I sweat, a lot and I am a girl, how much more for a guy? You can never sweat or show any emotion infront of these vampires otherwise youll be a snack. Its just surreal, and I find it stupid for the vampires to not detect where the human scents are coming from, I just did a lot of eye rolling in here.

BUT, this was a very intense read for me. I mean I get nervous when Gene is in a very close-call situations. The fast paced, gory scenes, full packed actions are quite fascinating. The Hunt has a sinister feel but because its a first-person narrative, reading his POV  is just very amusing, he had me snorting sometimes. He is the main reason why I fully enjoyed this book. Set aside the flaws, and welcome the dangers he will face and the sacrifice he will make, I think this has a potential of a good series..The romance of Gene and Ashley June came out later in the story.

The ending was a an awesome cliffhanger for me, that it added spark to my curiosity for the second book. In two words, cannot wait!

Overall, I enjoyed this book, its not one of my great reads but it surely was worth my time.
